Why I Created Cozy Club: Designing Art for a Calmer Home
Hi! I wanted to officially introduce myself, I'm Megan Pelto, the artist behind Cozy Club.
I started Cozy Club out of my love for nature and all things cozy. I’m always trying to achieve coziness whether I’m indoors or outside, and I wanted my art to reflect both. Whether I’m hiking on a trail in my comfiest fleece, or with a cup of coffee on my couch, being comfortable and grounded is important to me.
Cozy Club was truly a passion project for me, I wanted to create the work I wanted to have on my walls, and combine everything I love with my experience working as a creative. I’ve been working as an illustrator for 10+ years with clients like Google and Meta, and wanted to bring my experience into combining what I love the most: the outdoors, coziness, and home decor. I’m an avid Pinterest user and am constantly looking at home decor. If I could have a perfect world it would be full of forests, coffee, and good design.
The problem that inspired Cozy Club
The idea for Cozy Club began while decorating my apartment in 2021. I was searching for simple coffee-inspired prints for my kitchen, but I kept running into the same issue. Much of what I found featured cheesy slogans or artwork that felt mass-produced and not thoughtfully designed for a home.
As an illustrator, I see a lot of art, and I’ve learned that there’s a difference between art you admire and art you actually want to live with on your walls every day.
I don’t say this to criticize anyone’s work, art is deeply personal. But I found it surprisingly difficult to find high-quality prints that felt both well designed and aligned with my style, so I decided to create my own.
As I continued decorating my home, I noticed the same challenge with nature-inspired art. I wanted forest prints that felt calm and balanced, something that complemented a space rather than overwhelming it. Something that spoke to my love of the outdoors while tying in with each space.
I thought, if I can’t find it, why don’t I design it myself? That idea eventually became Cozy Club.
The simple vision behind Cozy Club
Cozy Club’s purpose is simple, we create original, hand-drawn nature-inspired prints designed to complement your home and personal style.
Each piece is created with rich texture, simple organic shapes, and a focus on how artwork feels within an interior. From forest prints and cabin-inspired artwork to cozy coffee art, every design is intended to be the finishing touch that helps a space feel warm, balanced, and connected to nature.
Our hope is to create something that helps your space feel more like you, while adding in the right amount of coziness, design, and connection to nature. Our prints blend modern design with the quiet comfort of the outdoors.
Why nature?
Cozy Club was founded in the Pacific Northwest, and the landscapes here have deeply shaped the brand.
The outdoors has always been my biggest source of inspiration. It’s the main reason I moved to Portland, to spend more time hiking fern-covered trails, visiting waterfalls, backpacking through snow-covered mountains, and exploring mossy forests.
I grew up in Massachusetts in a family that loved spending time outside, and those experiences shaped the way I see the world. My parents are both hikers, and my dad has studied glaciers in the North Cascades for many years. From a young age, I was surrounded by nature and inspired by its beauty.
I believe the coziest life comes from finding a balance between indoors and outdoors, it’s something I have strived to create, and Cozy Club was created to reflect both.
